Welcome to Craftologie y'all! My name is Erin and I am cofounder of this handmade business.
Growing up in the south gave me a great appreciation for pattern (a lot of it), personalization, and pearls. As a young girl, I attended auctions with my grandfather where I inherited my love for the old and used.
I have a creative personality with the need to express myself through "making". This led me to pursue my education in art. While at school, I expressed myself through several media and found that I was motivated to create through metalsmithing and photography. Later on I decided to add fashion merchandising as another major as I became inspired by textiles and dress.
After college I became a jeweler for a large corporation, which is where Liz and I met three years ago. Now a working mom, I continue to perfect my craft everyday. By craft I mean crafts. Whether it is refurbishing furniture, quilting, metal smithing, or anywhere in between, my passion is for handmade. It's my lifestyle. It's Craftologie!
Hi there! I am Elizabeth, Erin's partner in craft/ cofounder of this handmade biz.
I was born and raised in Akron, Ohio where I grew up in a family of makers, shakers, and manufacturers. For me it was important that I knew how to use a hammer and a saw shortly after I learned to walk and talk. I was taught that anything you can want or anything you can imagine can be made by hand. If it is something you did not know how to make, WELL, you can surely learn how to do it. This aspect of my childhood lead to my multifaceted interest in art, craft, design, and a general DO IT YOURSELF attitude. Pursing this fascination from childhood, I went on to acquire a BFA in Jewelry & Metals from the Cleveland Institute of Art.
I cannot imagine having a life without expressing my desire to make. I began teaching classes and workshops. Teaching proves to be a great avenue to spread the love and importance of "making" in addition to increasing an awareness of quality work.
Erin and I agree: if you can dream it you can make it by hand. That is quality. That is Craftololgie!
